REMINDER: Part I of the free online course on teaching Engllish as a foreign language starts today! Are you a teacher of English as a foreign language? Do you want to improve your skills? Sign up for the second series of Shaping the Way We Teach English online course developed by the Department of State in partnership with the University of Oregon and Coursera. Free. No pre-requisites or eligibility requirements. Part 1 begins on January 5 and April 6. Part 2 begins on February 9 and May 11. Participants need only register for the course online at Coursera.org: Part I: coursera.org/course/shaping1landscape Part II: coursera.org/course/shaping2paths (Completion of Part I is not a prerequisite for Part II. The two parts can be taken in either order.) Candidates should be self-motivated and have access to a reliable Internet connection, a computer or mobile device capable of playing back web-based audio and video files, and the ability to type well enough in English to participate in discussions. An estimated 4-6 hours a week is required to participate in the course.
