REPORT NANYUKI – Tuesday, March 4, 2014 County Government schemes for rapid results The Laikipia County Government is holding a three-day training of its senior staff to improve efficiency and service delivery. The Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) training, to equip county officers, was officially opened by the minister for finance Mr. Wamichwe on behalf of the governor. Delivering a key note from the governor, Mr. Wamichwe expressed his confidence on the ability of the officers to deliver the county government development pillars and expectations of the people of Laikipia. He said RRI is about quick service delivery and results though sometimes painful, but services must be delivered. He added that performance is a product of discipline and he called on the officers to combine hardwork and discipline. Prof. Gemma Mbaya, from the Public Service Transformation, is the lead trainer. In her introductory speech, Prof. Mbaya said the main goal of the county government should not be revenue collection or playing a role of an employer, but it should aim at delivering services to the people. The Interim County Secretary Jennifer Nyaga is leading the county government staff. Also present are minister of Education John Akaale, gender and sports Ann Cheptoo, Industrialisation Jane Putunoi, and County Public Services Board chairperson Mary Mutinyi.
