REPORT ON THE CONFERENCE HELD AT PRESS BY OKEOGUN DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL, AT PRESS CONFERENCE CENTRE IYAGANKU IBADAN. ON REASON FOR CREATION OF OKE-OGUN STATE. The basis of the conference centred around the need for the OKE-OGUN indegenes both home and abroad to form an army in unification to achieve our desired goal. The speaker at the programme hinted much on the pain of our area, that over the years we have been making futile steps in achieving our goals. According to him, he said when the issue of state creation first arose back in 1987, during the regime of the formal military president, we submitted our well couched proposal and we were filled with hope that our prayer was going to be answered then. He furthered that, at the inception of the state creation in 1991 by the same regime attempts were as well made with our proposal, yet we met with a dump founded attitude of the babangidas regime and so Osun State was severe out of Oyo state. He lamented most at the state creation in 1996 by the then military government under late Gen. Sani Abacha, the does not estopped the fact that it was obvious that the most appropriate state meant to be couched out then was oke-ogun state but as nature had it the product is the current Ekiti state. After this he stressed that we should not be downtrodden in what is meant for us and we should not be dejected at this moment. Not only these but also, in terms of contribution towards the development of the country, he said that, OKE-OGUN is the land that fathered the likes of Samuel Ajayi Crowther, Prof Dibu Ojerinde; the JAMB registrar, Michael Koleoso and others like the current member of the supreme courts justice; who happens to be the only Supreme Court justice after the separation of Osun from Oyo. Yet all the enemy of OKE-OGUN could say is that we are not ripped enough to stand alone. The speaker continues by saying that when we are talking about morality and doggedness he harmmed that we have it but deposed that may be our simplicity is the cause of our being looked upon as being stupid. He therefore said that, we should sway from maintaining the second position weve been over the years maintaining and take it upon ourselves that the time is now to get well with politics in Oyo state and claim the first seat (governor). He nevertheless not dissuade that we need to have ourselves together and have our wall uncrumbbled, without this we cannot achieve out aim. Other speaker at the event was the Aseyin of Iseyin who is the chairman council of OVAs in OKE-OGUN, who encouraged all and sundry that if we refuse to continue the fight now that the CONFAB COMMITTEE set up to look at the possibility of the creation of the state, had submitted their so-called report to the house, he was of the opinion that the time is now for OKE-OGUN people to speak in one voice and should not be discourage.
