Below is a response of someone wondering why is it that when you preach righteousness and holiness as God commands us to, the first question from a sin lover is So have you ever sinned after coming to salvation? As if my sin could ever JUSTIFY theirs. What they need to do is not find some way to justify failure, as if failure is a Godly characteristic, but to find more resolve to trust Jesus for complete deliverance and strength to persevere. Many people seem to think that God brags about how many times He has had to put up with our weakness and failure, rather than boast as He did of Job: Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? God was not boasting of how much grace Job needed, He boasted of Jobs righteousness. Satan has convinced many that they cannot be free of his kingdom, and that Gods workaround for His weakness and inability to free us is His grace. I want God to be able to boast of my successes, not my failures. It does not glorify God when He has to take a back seat to Satans influence in your life. He does not give grace because we are failures, He gives grace to make us successes: Tit 2:11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; The evidence of grace in a persons life is not continual failure, but continual success - that we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; ~Bro Cope
