REPOST FROM DAN BAUGH - REALLY AWESOME NEWS ON MATTHEW!!! Matthew Baugh update April 3, 2014 ** Big News** Michael Baugh and I just got back from Shriners Hospital very late last night from our birthday visit with brother Matthew. We had our own family birthday celebration with Dani Baugh on Sunday before she had to fly back to Ole Miss. The Shriners had a birthday celebration for both Matthew and Michael on April 1st. They are the most awesome staff because they did not miss a beat and got presents for both Matt and Michael. We had a great time celebrating their birthday away from home for the first time in their lives. The biggest news came yesterday at the meeting with the staff on Matts progress. They are so pleased with his progress, that they have released him from the Acute Care Unit that he has been in since he arrived on February 16th and he is now allowed to stay in the Family Care Unit with Denise Barker-Baugh. He still had physical therapy today and will have it tomorrow, but he is now able to venture outside the hospital with no restrictions. Mom and Matt took in lunch today at a local restaurant and ventured to the mall for a shopping trip this afternoon and had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory this evening. He has his final check up on Thursday April 10th and if all goes well there he will be released to fly home. I will be going up to drive the Suburban back and rent the U-Haul( if necessary) to carry all the items that he has received from all parts of the country. We want to thank all of you for your continued support throughout this whole process that we have all been through. The healing process for burn victims usually lasts between 12-18 months, so our story is not over yet. Getting Matthew home is a big step in his recovery.
