REPOSTED: FACING FACTS (ONLINE COUNSELING) Gloria came from a very wealthy family and she was the only child of her parents. Aaron was the sixth born in a family of seven and very poor by the current standard of living as at the time. Aaron was a very brilliant but extremely poor student whereas Gloria was an average student but having all things required for comfort in abundance. Both Gloria and Aaron were just mere casual friends in the same department. Aaron had always been dreaming and desiring to travel abroad for his second degree which in Gloria’s case it has been settled, only for the academic calendar to round up before she will travel. Aaron and Gloria were living in the same city but different locations. Gloria’s parents were living among the rich in the society whereas Aaron and his parents were living in a ghetto-kind of arrangement. After graduation, one day Aaron decided to visit Gloria at home. Gloria’s parents were so much protective of her while Aaron’s parents believe that the Lord is his shepherd. Aaron was welcomed into Gloria’s family house and her father began to quiz Aaron about his future plans. Aaron took his time and explained thoroughly his plans but for financial challenges. Meanwhile, Gloria had been waiting for Aaron to talk to her about marriage which Aaron too would have liked but he was afraid of being turned down. After Aaron departed Gloria’s house, her dad began to ask her some pertinent questions about Aaron. She told him everything she knew about him. One week later, Gloria’s dad sent for Aaron and he came. Gloria’s dad began to show interest in Aaron’s further studies abroad, but on a condition of Aaron and Gloria getting married before setting out. After speaking out his mind, Gloria’s dad told Aaron to go and give it a thought and that he should get back to him in two weeks time. REAL ISSUES: 1.Aaron had never proposed to Gloria,so no relationship of that kind yet. 2.Gloria’s dad only assumed she was in courtship with Aaron. 3.Aaron came from a very poor and wretched background. 4.No one knows what would be Gloria’s mum’s disposition to the offer from her husband to Aaron. 5.Aaron had not known whether his parents will agree to that offer without suspecting any ulterior motive. REAL QUESTIONS: 1.Where and how should Aaron begin to address the issue? 2.Won’t Aaron’s family feel inferior to the Gloria’s family? 3.Is it right for a father to start up something of that nature on behalf of his daughter? 4.Is that condition not with strings attached before sponsoring Aaron? 5.What if either of the parties discovered much later that they are not compatible? 6.Or what do you think?
