REPRIEVE!! It may be short lived, but it is better than what was about to happen. The removal bylaw, which passed unanimously, was essentially a demolition order, if left unamended. However, council added a direction to staff to explore both, updated costs for a demolition (as the earlier estimate is now deemed low) and to look more closely at costs of a range of non-destructive removal options; from full salvage of the intact bridge (with, or without the deck), to recovery of at least the trusses. It could have been over yesterday, but it isnt, yet...
