REPRIEVE!!! On behalf of the Vince’s family: ownership, management, and entire crew . . .thank you, thank you, thank you . . . and a reprieve! Based on the overwhelming support that you, our customers, have shown, Vince’s will remain open for business until the property has been sold (and as long as we continue to show a return to pre-recession numbers). We cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of loyalty, encouragement, well-wishing, persistence and especially patience that you have shown ever since the news of our impending closure became public. Please keep in mind that the eventual sale of the property (and only the property, not the business that is Vince’s) is a foregone conclusion; it’s simply a matter of “when?” Factors such as a sluggish economic recovery and a still tentative real estate market have trickled down to directly affect the property listing, and while this definitely creates some uncertainty for both you as customers and us as a business, we nevertheless remain committed to providing you with the same quality of food, the same reasonable prices, and the same level of service that you have come to know (and that we expect from ourselves). We know that there are some who will (cynically) say that this has all been a ruse or some kind of marketing ploy. To this we can only say, we wish we were that clever! The truth is that the current situation--and the schedule it has created, with the deadlines, extensions, etc.—has been as much an emotional rollercoaster for us as it has been for you, and while we don’t want to be “the boy who cried wolf,” we obviously would like to postpone the upheaval that closing would cause in your lives and in ours as long as possible. If, however, you feel you have been taken advantage of, whether through a long wait or inadequate service or even “panic mode” purchases, please seek me out; I will gladly try to find a way to “make it right.” Under the current circumstances we will continue to take reservations for parties of 5 or more, though we obviously cannot take them any more than one week in advance. We regret any inconvenience this may cause . . . In the meantime, and for as long as it lasts, mangia bene . . . and grazie mille. Gregg Parras
