RESCUE UPDATE! How many chickens can you fit into a truck? Well, its been another busy weekend in rescue. We received a call for help from friends and family of a sadly deceased older gentleman to rehome some of his multitude of animals. We sprung into action and drove to the farm to round up and load the animals. Our friends at Bear Valley Rescue once again came to our aid, taking the livestock including three adorable (yet hard to load and stubborn) donkeys and many many chickens, we lost count. Please consider sponsoring one of these animals at BVR. But it didnt stop there. A kind hearted resident called about an abandoned family of dogs, so our AARCS and Alberta Spay and Neuter Task Force volunteers drove to pick them up. We were greeted by a submissive family of three when we arrived at a very remote location. Initially we tried loading them into crates, when the momma dog was loaded into a crate the papa dog, despite his large size, tried to squeeze himself into the same crate to be with her. In the end we decided to leave them loose in the back of the truck. It was the easiest rescue, no need for slip leads or traps, simply putting the puppy into the back seat, caused mom to follow right behind and dad again was right on her heals. The entire way home both parents tried to sit on their rescuers laps and showered them with kisses. Since AARCS is very full, our friends at the Red Deer SPCA agreed to take the happy little family, and after seeing how bonded mom and dad are agreed not to separate them, they will be up for adoption as a pair, please check them out, they are absolutely beautiful and deserve a great home. So after a 16 hour day and two tanks of gas, over a hundred animals are now safe. But it did not stop there, as the AARCS TNR and SNAP teams were in full action this weekend also, roaming around in southern Alberta conducting a variety of rescue and mini spay and neuter clinics. Its always busy in the world of rescue, please help us continue to help!
