RESCUE UPDATE: Rocky, Coco and Sky, Jan 25, 2014- A heartwarming story of once broken bodies and shattered lives that have since come through the fire against all odds. Rescue team members at Wild for Life Foundation (WFLF) Lifetime Equine Refuge (LER) received an emergency call requesting urgent aid for three young starving horses. Upon arrival, WFLFs urgent response team discovered that all three were severely emaciated and neglected. The horses were discovered by WFLF after the owners mother called for help. Her son had not been able to provide for them after being in an accident. Coco, a Chestnut Arabian mare, and Rocky QH/ mix Paint stud were evacuated to safety, but Sky, the White and Gray Dapple Arabian mare had belonged to the owners sister, who had recently passed away - and the distraught children and family members just couldnt part with Sky. Coco and Rocky were placed into WFLFs Safe Haven program where they began receiving round-the-clock special care in effort to restore them to good physical health. When we first rescued Rocky he was too weak to even step into the trailer, Coco was a mere quivering skeleton with fur. These two once treasured companion horses had lost everything -- even their hope. Finally, in December, 2013, after 9 long months, Sky was released to WFLFs sanctuary program where she has been receiving lots of tender loving care. Sky, Rocky and Coco were reunited just in time for the holidays at WFLFs Lifetime Equine Refuge in Lake Mathews, CA.
