RESIDENTS IN THE NORTH AND TO THE EAST OF TENTERFIELD SHIRE MUST FEEL SOMEWHAT VICTORIOUS THAT ARMIDALE IS NO LONGER OUR CAPITAL CITY.....having stayed between legume and woodenbong and also drake for a short time, i will share some experiences. people in legume and surrounds go to killarney or warwick to shop and conduct business.they listen to warwick radio or abc southern queensland.they watch toowoomba local news .there is no tenterfield star available,people read the warwick daily news/and or the free times.the only publication from tenterfield is the tenterfield shire news sheet.many young people do not know tenterfield exists.then you travel from legume to urbenville along a road that mayor petty aptly describes as a national disgrace,i agree.people in urbenville and woodenbong listen to lismore radio,read the northern star ,generally,watch lismore television networks.again here only the tenterfield shire news sheet.most people go to casino or lismore to shop or do business.then to drake along a goat track.the residents in drake wonder to take the climb up "car sick alley" to shop in tenterfield or go to casino ,banalbo or lismore.mostly radio and television is from lismore,however,they are smart enough to have their own newspaper"the drake village voice",personally i give it double thumbs up.i give much credit to mayor petty as the representative for most of the mentioned region.peter attends meetings there and i compare it as going to a war zone ,sometimes.also much credit must go to tenterfield shire council staff ,who endure the "goat tracks of the north".it will be interesting to speak with people from the west ie ,mingoola and to the south ie,torrington to get their thoughts on the new electoral boundary.......the question is will the move bring tenterfield OUT OF THE DARK AGES ?............. michael
