RESIDENTS URGED TO RECYCLE TREES (DDN; 12/25/2014) The Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department again is encouraging residents to recycle cut holiday trees. The recycling options include taking the tree to the county Transfer Station/Recycling Center on County Road 25A north of Troy. Trees are accepted for free between Friday and Jan. 31. Trees also can be left at the curb if the community or private waste hauler picks up trees. They can be placed in a natural area on personal property as wildlife cover for birds and small animals and placed in a pond for reservoir as a fish cover. Regardless of the option, the tree stand, hooks, plastic bags and non-biodegradable ornaments should be removed. For more information, call 937-440-3488 or visit miamicountyohio.gov and look for the sanitary engineering information.
