RESOLUTION 01-0009 Subject: York County, City of Poquoson & City of Williamsburg Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics IAFF Local 2498 U.S. Military Veterans Appreciation Program. Effective Date November 11th 2009 Approved Date: 01 September 2009 Purpose The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines to assist the local’s executive board in implementing and administering a program known as The York County, City of Poquoson & City of Williamsburg Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics IAFF Local 2498 U.S. Military Veterans Appreciation Program. Responsibility It shall be the responsibility of the local’s Secretary and shift Vice Presidents to insure proper enrollment and yearly presentations to authorized members. It will remain the member’s responsibility to advise and provide the documents needed for enrollment to the local’s Secretary. Procedures Upon programs approval, the local Secretary will send out an email and union board posting signed by the local President requesting that any IAFF Local 2498 member in “Good Standing” that has served is serving in any branch of the U.S. Military and has proof of active duty or Honorable Discharge (IE. DD214, Military ID Card, etc) advise the local Secretary by either letter or email that he or she has served or is serving. When proof of service has been received and filed in the member’s union office personnel jacket the said members name, branch of service and years served will be added to a formal roster maintained in by the local Secretary. Names will be added to the union office’s “Wall of Honor” under the appropriate branch picture. The member will then be presented with a specific branch of service vehicle decal and a letter of appreciation from IAFF Local 2498. The members name will be added to our local’s web site’s “Wall of Honor” by the local’s Web Master. Every year on or within a few days of Veterans Day, the member will receive a “Thank You” card via U.S. snail mail from IAFF Local 2498’s Executive Board Officers and General Membership.
