RESPOND TO OUR DEAR KARYAWAN & PFM FRIENDS.. We wish to congratulate both Karyawan and PFM for their efforts in trying to improve the current situations with regard to the industry. Karyawan’s latest main efforts/accomplishment – working on a standard contract for the industry people and establishing a portal are applauded by us all. Whilst many parties are saying that we can adduce to Karyawan some standard contract precedents that have actually already been used by some industry players (no need to wait for 14 years and still work in progress..), and that Finas have also established the same kind of portal all this while, we at Switchoff ’14 duly appreciate these milestone efforts. The press statement released by Karyawan evidently proved that the latter do not understand the essences of what Switchoff are all about. But we’ve agreed herein that to deliberate on this further will just be a waste of time for everybody. Karyawan’s reference to us as ‘tidak beri manfaat’ or PFM’s suggestion that we’re ‘tin kosong’ are honestly deemed by us as childish comments with total meaningless indeed. We’re opting not to dance to these kind of tunes. We also wish to express our appreciation towards all talks, chats, series of discussions, etc that PFM have initiated. In fact, we welcome any kind of efforts done by anybody with the common vision of improving the overall situation with regards to taraf hidup warga kerja industry and at the same time, restructuring and elevating the nations’ contents’ standard as a whole. Nevertheless, at Switch Off 14, we’re clear on what we wish to achieve for the sake of all. In no ways are we trying to undermine the government (as now aggressively wrongly propogated by some parties). In fact, we’re trying to assist the government by asserting few points dalam cara yang lebih tegas, tersusun dan kolektif. Yes, we’re confronting the TV stations especially the non-government ones who have been depriving us from our rights for so many years. To be frustrated or angry is of course our rights exclusively. No one will be happy if their fees are the same after 20 years. It is truly inexplicable if anybody within this respective industry would disagree with all 11 PERKARA that we’re invoking. If you don’t agree with our ‘means’, perhaps it’s okay as this is a democratic country. But anybody dismissing the 11 points apparently has some implicit issues. If any initiatives have slowly been discussed with regard to the 11 PERKARA, it is not wrong for all the points to be reiterated and stressed upon by us accordingly, as we sincerely believe that the 11 points are matters that need to be adopted for a better ecosystem within the industry. Now on the ‘means’, whoever yang disseminating stories that Switchoff nak pecah pintu Finas, or berarak berbatu-batu, or nak run riot, etc are truly being totally mislead by we don’t know who. We will deliberate on what we want to do on 11.11 at a later stage. So both Karyawan and PFM, while we accept your decision not to be with us on this, how we wish that we can be collective on this cause. Down deep inside, surely all of you would agree that when you’ve talked nicely to your friends for so long, and not much have been changed after 20 YEARS, you have to raise your voice a bit to be heard. Switch Off ’14 is not about Gafim, PFM or Karyawan. It’s about our fellow workers, improving the current standards of everything, and preparing a better future blueprint untuk negara Malaysia. Yes, untuk Malaysia. It is much bigger than you and me.
