RESPONSE ON DA ALLEGATIONS LEVELED THROUGH HERALD OTHER SOCIAL NETWORKS. The South African Students Congress (SASCO) has noted with disgust the unfounded allegations cemented with malicious lies appeared on Herald page 4, on 02 April 2014 (“nmmu src under fire over ¼ million splurge”) by Kabelo Megatosi of DASO national grouping. We felt that we have that we need to respond to their damaging distortions although we have in the past deliberately restrained ourselves from responding to attacks directed at SASCO and SRC leadership in particular. We have prioritised the work of the SRC and the organizational work and processes to partake WITH IN OUR GLORIOUS MOVEMENT and have believed that political stakeholders inclusive of Daso all have this intention. As a result we chose not to occupy the public space to correct many distortions and open lies which have been peddled against the organization and the SRC on various issues. ON 2014 STUDENT PARLIAMENT AND POLICY SUMMIT. As SASCO leadership we have noted with deep concern that Daso continues to make media statements against the NMMU SRC AND SGD. Firstly ever since Daso took power in the SRC in 2012 there was never a student parliament and summit in NMMU let alone that the constitution stipulate clearly that these two programs are mandatory and compulsory for the SRC to convene. It is not a secret that more than R100 000 of student funds in 2012 was spent on failed and collapsed programs of the SRC and in 2013 more than R250 000 was a wasteful SRC expenditure due to the failed programs that they were attempting to organise. Mr Kabelo and his Daso bedfellows seem to be suffering from a selective amnesia when he talks about parliament and summit in past 2 years because these events have never materialised and NMMU students fortunately don’t suffer from amnesia. We congratulate the 2014 SRC for organizing successful parliament and summit and we can confirm that these successful SRC programs cost less than R170 000 altogether given the fact that there will be no other parliament to sit up until next semester. Those student and some student leaders who are interested can consult with the NMMU finance department or SGD for confirmations for further enquiries and evidence, Daso can also do that they are more than welcome to the world of facts and evidence. So FAR there is not even one program that has failed in the hands of the 2014 SRC. ON GALLER DINNER. He goes further to try and resuscitates the Da and Daso’s low political currency in the main stream politics of the country by dragging the name of the ANC in his attempt to grab some attention for his party given the May 7 elections fever. The SRC galler dinner was budgeted by an SRC on that weekend was an ANC galler which the SRC have got nothing to do with it its only SASCO that was part of ANC program and there where no costs incurred by the SRC at all during the ANC Galla Dinner therefore We must further remind Daso that TRUTH is very stubborn because it is always supported by evidence unlike lies that cannot stand the test of time. We as students have not forgotten with R170 000 that Daso executive spent in Umhlanga Rocks last year, we have not forgotten about failed intervarsity which embarrassed us in front of the country we know who you are and we know what you represent. BECAUSE STUDENTS UNLIKE YOU DON’T SUFFER FROM AMNESSIA IN CONCLUSSION. SASCO continues to campaign side by side, door-to-door, umntu emntwini for a decisive and landslide victory of the ANC and that is not a secret whether Daso and its mother body can connive with their “friends-like-these” in the media we are unshaken. We interact with our people face-to-face we need no newspaper to tell our good story and our side of story is known by people on ground unlike theirs that is know by twitter gost accounts and media chommies.
