RESPONSE TO GRAHAM MOONEY & BASSIMG regarding hijack of the NASSIGWG January 5th 2015 (BASSIMG doc attached) Dear Graham and Bayside ASSI Mens Group, Thank you for your emails and notification of the hijack of the National Governance Working Group that came out of Wantok Mackay. The term Wantok is an initiative run by ASSI.PJ and that word was ceased as apart of the national vision when the model was dissolved in Mackay and has remained with ASSI.PJ as we use it for our workshops and finding family initiatives. The NASSIGWG has not adopted this term at all. (its is also not copyrighted to ASSIPJ) Firstly I would like to advise those on this email that Port Jackson has had no input what so ever into this decision making and have received this information a few days ago in a mass email. I received a call from Uncle Graham Mooney asking how I felt about the email and I advised him that his actions would need to reflect a majority support in order to impose such an act and that he would need to demonstrate his support through a signed petition with individual community names in the immediate if people are prepared to do this and send it through to the NASSIGWG. This petition would need to be drafted by the BASSI mens group opposing the NASSIGWG chair etc in order to demonstrate majority concerns / the communities perspective. We spoke about many other matters and in particular why did ASSI.PJ let the ball drop I reminded him that Wantok Mackay saw the model which democratically elected ASSI.PJ (by show of hands) as the national secretariat (administration body) and the appointed national board (12 delegates) dissolved due to conflict and the motion was moved by Dennis Bobongie and supported by the delegation in Mackay. This motion was due to the lack of good governance practice and loopholes in the delegates being appointed and lack of followup in compliance matters hence Gilbert and Tobin participation/session in sharing legal perspectives at Wantok Mackay. I also advised Uncle Graham that Gilbert & Tobin are assigned in a legal agreement to ASSI.PJ to do this constitution work. If there is an overwhelming response for ASSI.PJ to be involved or to participate as a national administrative body then that would have to come from the people as it did in Bundaberg, Brisbane and Tweed Heads. The only way I can foresee this happening is for all to attend the Rockhampton meeting on the 24th January to voice their opinions (as the people have the power) and to discuss amicably the issues through signed petition/letters from those that cant attend and those present representing their regions/organisations. We have to act with caution in theses sensitive matters and put all other personal and political agendas aside as best we can in trying to establish this national body. We are all very talented, professional and intelligent people that have allot to give collectively to this vision and I truly believe we can achieve this monumental goal if we firstly humble ourselves to the process and move with deliberation in working together. I know we are all so passionate and excited about leaving a sustainable legacy for our future generations. We need to remember in order to achieve the establishment of a national body it is unrelenting work and negotiation for years to come. ASSI.PJ appreciate the support of the BASSI Mens Group since 2011 meeting in Bald Hills and their ongoing encouragement during these turbulent times. Yours respectfully, Emelda Davis On Fri, Jan 2, 2015 at 6:29 AM, Graham Mooney wrote: Dear Emelda , The Bayside Australian South Sea Islander Mens Association are kindly fseeking your service to mediate on our bahald to inform the Working Party that their agenda has now been highjacked and their services are no longer required to set the National Agenda. Attached is a document that the Bayside Australian South Sea Islander Mens Association has now highjacked the Working Partys agenda and have dismissed the Working Party due to their incompetence and lack of ability to be transparent to our SSI communities throughout Australia. The Mens Association have been speaking to many community people over the convening of the AGM as no notification of any minutes of the Rockhampton Meeting or dates for the AGM would be convened. The Mens Group will begin its work immediately from today. We are all -prepared to protest strongly against this Working Party over their incompetence and lack of transparentcy. We also are aware that two members of the Working Party have other interest why and therefore why the Mens Group had decided to highjack the National Agenda of the people and for the people. The attachment speaks for itself why this irradical decison was made yesterday to take it away from the Working Party. We will start the work immediately if we can obtain a copy on line of the Constitution that we are going to send on our networks around Australia. We have learnt of the frustration that this Worrking Party has placed on our people and it is evident that the Working Party is setting this up to fail because of you and Port Jackson, so the SSI Mens Group have now highjacked the whole agenda to get this show back on the road. We dont intend negotiate on any thing whilst we revisit the agenda and organise the National AGM Happy New Year Everyone.and send through all your networks. Thanks -- Always keep your aim in front of you and you will continue to deveop divine virtues. You now have to look after yourself. Remove devilish traits and imbibe divine virtues.
