REST IN GREAT PEACE GRAND MA- CHEBO KIPYEGEN In his travel Diaries Laboso Arap Kaplelach Son of Seronik arap Togom Barterit.... while on his way to search for greener pastures for Hus livestock after being chased by white settlers in Kericho for tea farming, settled somewhere in Modern time Kapkimolwa Bomet county waiting to be given permit to cross over to Cis-mara. here he met one beautiful young Lady Taprandich Kapyegoi Chebo Kipyegen thats around AD 1924. under Kalenjin customary law she married her as her 4th wife and into her she was blessed with four sons and 3 daughters, grand childrens and great grandchildrens, me being amongst grandchild. My grandmother was the matriarch of our family and she was a rock, an inspiration and a teacher. The 21st of October marks a year since my beloved grandmother, the inimitable matriarch of my family, departed. How fitting that she’d do so on such a significant month; one that is dedicated to great women such as herself? I reminisce about my very last conversation with her on 20th october – the pain weighing heavily in my heart as I witnessed first-hand, how frail our once fearsome “iron lady” had become. I once believed that she was too resilient to be conquered by something as inferior as an illness; but there she was, at its mercy. It was almost impossible to accept the figure that was in front of me but I will spare you from the melancholies of my last moments with her. It’s still too painful to relive anyway. She was a goddess in her own right. She epitomised what it meant to be a woman. She personified absolute strength, and she did so ever so gracefully. Through her subliminal teachings, In World far away.... Fare thee well CheboKipyegen
