REST IN PEACE … EDMORE ‘’MARAZOR’’ CHITATO (1st picture Eddied jogs with Vorster Chitema. 2nd picture He lines up back row standing 2nd from right) It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Edmore Chitato today. Nicknamed Marazor at Monoz. After playing for Masvingo United and Hwange the Dzivaresekwa born Eddie arrived at Monoz in 2005 alongside another Dzivaresekwa boy and his childhood friend Takesure Chinyama. He scored for Monoz on his debut at Callies against Motor Action. He was to play for the team till the end of the 2009 season. Donning the number 10 jersey Eddie played in Norman Mapeza’s all conquering Monoz of 2008 that was to be only the second team in Zimbabwe football history after Dynamos to play in the Champions Legaue group stages in 2009. Some of the players who played alongside Chitato at Monoz are Sageby Sandaka, James Phiri, Herbert Dick, Vorster Chitema, Tinarwo brothers, Charles Chiutsa, Daniel Zokoto, Talent Gwaze, Mthulis Maphosa, Muzondiwa Gonese, Charles Joe, Godfrey Mangove, Tendai Samanja, Russell Madamombe Mozambican by nationality, Chitato renounced his dual citizenship in 2005 to take up full Zimbabwean citizenship. Gifted with speed, power and accuracy in front of goal the midfielder Chitato played just behind the strikers, but was always on the score sheet – mostly with booming shots from just outside the box. His attainment of Zimbabwean citizenship seemed to have been guided by his ambitions as he graduated into Sunday Chidzambwa coached national team and he played in the CHAN tournament. At talent infested Monoz a new midfield genius was emerging – Russell ‘Mabalito’ Madamombe. When the young Russell started playing ahead of him Eddie decided it was time to leave. Eric Rosen’s Mighty Bulls in Eastlea was to be his new home before moving to Arthur Chitunhu’s Kiglon Bird FC. Chihuri’s boys Black Mambas is where he ended his career to go into business – cellphone trading and taxis. I personally last saw Eddie with his taxi in Waterfalls years back. The last I heard/read about him was on DeMbare Dotcoms, who produced an image of ‘MaRazor’ with swollen feet and tummy and trying to get assistance for him. He was unwell. Sadly he has passed on. Eddie will be missed by all of us in the football fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace. REST IN PEACE EDDIE MONOZ WILL NEVER DIE !!! NOT IT WONT. Just like Black Aces, Black Mambas and Zimbabwe Saints who lied low and returned WE WILL BE BACK. CHINOMAKWA NANI….HACHIMAKIKI CHAKAIPA !!! PASS AND SUPPORT (STANDARD) MONOZ FOR LIFE Like · Comment · Share
