REST ON MY DEAR BISHOP MOST REVD. DR DAMAN OF THE CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF SHENDAM I mourn with the Priests, religious and the laity of Shendam as well as the entire Catholic faithful in Nigeria and the Universal Family World Wide the demise of the Catholic Bishop of Shendam, Most Revd Dr. Daman. My heart goes out to his immediate biological family too. I read here on Facebook about an hour ago a post by a lady concerning your demise but surprisingly the post disappeared. I knew whom to ask to be sure and so I made a post to the group I AM BLESSED TO BE ROMAN CATHOLIC to be sure I saw and read well. Not still satisfied, I inquired from my former boss, a Reverend Sister, who confirmed to me that you died in your sleep last night (Sunday 11-01-2015). She also told me you officiated at the First Profession Mass of the OLF Congregation Jos yesterday in Shendam, Plateau State, Nigeria. I remember at the funeral Mass of Fr Christopher Stephen Ganga you told the story of a priest who preached at the funeral of another priest and said he was afraid to ask WHO IS NEXT because all those before him who had asked the question became the WHO NEXT. You said this and people laughed. For some strange reason I did not laugh but smiled. My thought was that WHO IS NEXT is always a legitimate question and worth asking. Today, you have gone to join the priest at whose funeral you gave a touching homily that ended with that famous funeral quote O passer-by, as you are, so I was and as I am so you shall be. You may not have asked the question, but today you are gone before marked with the sign of faith. Rest well my Bishop. May the angels of God receive your soul and present you to God the Most High and may the good Lord you served diligently for many years as Priest and Bishop, judge you with mercy and love. Good night good man. His burial is on d 29th of January in Shendam.
