RESULTS: Lisnarick 6 v 2 Spamount Swifts FC (M.McCauley, P.OKane (3), S.Gormley, N Gormley) A great overall team performance turned round a lacklustre first half where the home side trailed 2-1 at the break, only for Lisnarick to dominate proceedings and go on to score 5 times in the second half. It was the Spamount side that started the game brighter, Lisnarick taking some time to find their feet and allowed the Spamount No.10 too much time on uncleared ball only to find the bottom corner of the net past the fingertips of Lisnarick Keeper Peter Gormley. Ryan McQuaid picked up an injury on 18 minutes and was replaced by Warren Holden who went into centre midfield, Kevin McCauley taking the right back role and Eunan McAnespy moving to the wing. A period of end to end football ensued throughout opening 20 minutes with both teams going close to scoring. Benny McCaffrey battled hard to win ball upfont whilst Declan Deazley and Kevin McGahey ruggedly defended the home goal whilst under some pressure. A corner on the half hour mark was not adequately dealt with however and Spamount found themselves 2 goals to the good after keeper Gormley was unable to put the ball beyond the advancing strikers path after a good reaction save. Lisnarick began to gain more possession and it paid off just before the break through a Mark McCauley mazy run and fine finish. (HT 1-2) It seemed a different Lisnarick side was introduced in the second half as confidence began to grow. Proinsias OKane worked tirelessly in midfield and capitalised from a Shane Gormley cross to find the net and bring the sides level. Lisnarick were on the ascendency and went on to score 3 goals in a 15 minute spell with great link up play between Holden, OKane and the newly introduced Niall Gormley. Niall Gormley would turn provider for brother Shane to find the net first before OKane made no mistake when well placed 15 yards out. 4-1. O Kane and McCaffrey bolstered the attack and looked to score with each foward move. Dara Murphy, Kevin McCauley and Dominic Dolan excelled in cancelling any opposing threat allowing Lisnarick midfield to carve out multiple chances. OKane would go on to round off his day with a hat-trick before a great team goal finished off by Niall Gormley to complete a really improved second half performance and vital 3 points. Players and Management would like to thank the great support that came from the line, a great help and much appreciated. Thanks. P.S. A lot of this was written by the person furthest from most of the action so could be made partly made up. Any facts that need changed please comment. P.Gormley, D Murphy, D Deazley, K McGahey, E McAnespy, M McCauley, K McCauley, P OKane, R McQuaid, B McCaffrey, S Gormley. Subs: P Law, W Holden, N Gormley, D Dolan.
