Shane OLoughlin opened his account for the year early in the first half, controlling a nicely played diagonal through ball then smashing home past the hapless keeper to set the wheels in motion. Skipper Eric Ogrin made it two shortly after; hitting a speculative strike from 30 yards which snuck past the nervous keepers gloves and into the back of the net. After have time Brad Dry; who has scored in all four of his TAFC games to date kept the run going after a relentless solo run saw him smack the crossbar when the keeper was in no mans land. He won the ball from the rebound and finally made no mistake, smashing past the man on the line and into the roof of the net. Eric Ogrin, who was getting a lot of joy on the right flank, capped the day with a powerful right footed drive from just inside the corner of the box which evaded 6 pairs of legs and smashed the corner of the net. Another comprehensive performance from the seniors who can now have a week off before laying their assault on the second half of the season. THE RESERVES SCORED FOUR FIRST HALF GOALS to beat the bottom place Peru United while breaking a record on the way. With custodian James Talbett (Red) keeping his 5th clean-sheet of the season it meant he, and the watertight defense led by Peter Fairley broke the record for most amount of cleansheets of any TAFC Reserve team in a season - and were only half way! Great effort boys. Up forward there was no shortage of highlights. Chris Filer Jr opened the scoring with an outswinging 20 yard drive in the first 2 minutes of the match which well and truly signaled the clubs attentions for the day while putting a smile on Chris Filer Srs face. Tim Charters, who just returned from Canada, displayed his down skill skiing skills on the football pitch; slaloming past the entire Peru United midfield and back four before poking past the keeper. Ross Burnett scored with a well hit free kick from the edge of the box deflecting off the wall which completely wrong footed the keeper. Chris Filer made it a brace soon after; smashing the ball across the keeper into the back of the net after some good work on the left flank put him through on goal. The second half was a cagey affair however Pedro Ose; who had been hit from pillar to post all day finally got his reward using his pace to burn past the Peru United defense before slotting past the keeper at his near post. Well done to Xavier Sloan, Jay Phelan and the entire TAFC playing group on a great first half of the season...You have set yourself up perfectly for the challenges that lie ahead over the next 3 months. Onwards and upwards to sunny days in September! TAFC
