RETIREMENT OF LCOL DENNIS LEVESQUE After 37 years of loyal and dedicated service to Canada, Lieutenant-Colonel Dennis Levesque will retire from the Canadian Forces on 2 June 2014. Lieutenant-Colonel Levesque enrolled into the Canadian Forces in December 1977 at Kingston, and is a career tactical aviator with deep experience as a helicopter pilot in support of the Army. Dennis received his pilot wings in May 1980 and accumulated 3300 hours, mostly gained on the CH135 Twin Huey helicopter and the CH146 Griffon helicopter. He served with 427 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, Petawawa, 403 Helicopter Operational Training Squadron, Gagetown and 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, Ottawa. He culminated his flying career as Commanding Officer of 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, Borden, where he enhanced its operational role, took 220 personnel and 26 helicopters under his command for the 2010 G8/G20 Conferences and also acted as Commanding Officer of the Composite Aviation Unit in support of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics during Operation PODIUM. Other notable highlights of Dennis’ career include multiple Rendez-Vous exercises in Wainwright in the 1980s, operational deployment with the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai, Egypt in 1987, Staff Officer Tactical Helicopters at Air Command Headquarters, Winnipeg and J5 Plans and Operations / J7 Training at National Defence Headquarters, Ottawa. Currently, Dennis is the Senior Directing Staff at the Canadian Forces College, Toronto. Lieutenant-Colonel Levesque is a graduate of the Advanced Aviation Course, Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College Course, Canadian Forces Staff School, Canadian Forces College and the NATO Operational Planning Course. Lieutenant-Colonel Levesque will remain in Toronto with his spouse Ivanka Wloch. A Depart With Dignity function will be held on Wednesday 23 April 2014 at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto, at 215 Yonge Blvd. It will commence with a breakfast buffet at 0830 hrs in the Armour Heights Officers Mess, cost $9.70 paid to cashier, followed by a ceremonial presentation of certificates at 0945 hrs in Traynor Auditorium. Dress for military personnel will be dress-of-the-day (3A/ 3B/ 3C short-sleeved shirt, sweater optional), whilst for civilians business or casual attire.
