***RETURNED LIKE AN OLD PAIR OF SHOES*** A volunteer writes: Gucci, a young Shepherd/Chow cross was relinquished into our care as his masters did not have time for a dog anymore…He is gorgeous, the perfect weight, healthy and wears a fluffy, silky well groomed coat. Gucci has been , no doubt about it, very well attended to by his former family who left with us very nice comments about him. Gucci is calm in his kennel. His den is not in disarray. He is leashed easily and walks beautifully, eliminating without marking as soon as we leave the building. Free in a pen, he chooses to come right away on my lap. He is quite needy, kissy and wants very much to be petted, handled and cared for. Gucci is obviously stressed and unhappy to have been separated from his love ones and his familiar environment. He is not that interested in treats, he prefers to just hang around me. He seems fine with other dogs, even when they are barking at him. Gucci was told to play ball and enjoys to run after one, catches it and brings it each time back to me. He seems to want to keep it, though and at this point, i just exchange it for another ball to continue the game.Once off leash, Gucci does not want to have it back on and it is a bit of a juggle to have it back on him. I sit him down, give him a high end treat and things go back to normal. Gucci is not trouble to go back to his kennel. I am looking forward to see him again tomorrow. Gucci is at the Manhattanshelter. He is a gorgeous, friendly and sociable dog we do not really know much about as far as his past is concerned and who might need some training. He is worth the effort to take a chance on as he seems good with dogs and no doubt about it, a fan of us, humans..
