REVEALED: 9 Kenyans who committed Kenya to the ICC; WAKO led the pack but RINGERA signed. Thursday September 5, 2013 - As the debate on whether or not Kenya should withdraw from the Rome Statute and the International Criminal Court (ICC) rages on, it’s important to note that Kenya’s very own leaders committed the country to the Rome Statute. Former Attorney General, Amos Wako, led the Kenyan delegation to Rome, Italy, for a two day meeting dubbed “United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court”, in 1998 that would see Kenya become a signatory to the Rome Statute a year later. Former Director of Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC), Aaron Ringera, who was by then the Solicitor-General, put pen to paper in 1999 and committed Kenya to the ICC, a decision he has since regretted because he never knew it would come to haunt his President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy, William Ruto, and his very own good friend, Ambassador, Francis Muthaura. Here is the full list of 9 Kenyans that took Kenya to The Hague;- 1. Amos Wako-the then Attorney General and head of the Kenyan delegation 2. Aaron Ringera-the then Solicitor-General, he deputized Wako and also signed the document 3. Thuita Mwangi - the then First Secretary at the Permanent Mission in New York, US. 4. Bob F. Jalang’o – the then Kenyan Ambassador to Italy 5. Momanyi Onwonga - Assistant Deputy Public Prosecutor 6. F K Kipsoi - Immigration attaché at Kenyan Embassy in Italy 7. K J Boinnet - Second Secretary at Kenyan Embassy in Italy 8. Julius K. Kandie - Deputy Solicitor- General 9. Julius Sunkuli - the then Assistant Minister in the Office of the President
