How Okorocha Squandered N10billion On A Failed Presidential Ambition The last may not have been heard of the failed presidential ambition of governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state on the APC presidential primary which took place at the Taslim Balogun stadium in Lagos state recently. NewsDay Reporters recalls that the incumbent governor failed woefully on the heavily Dollarized primary. Okorocha who after spending the huge sums of Imo tax payers money on his presidential project could not secure any favorable result as he came a distant fourth, securing less than 600 votes. Investigation by NewsDay Reporters have revealed that the governor may have spent a whooping sum of of over 10billion Naira to actulise his dreams of clinching the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC. The bulk of the money according to our findings was spent on logistics in travelling the whole of the country and bribing delegates which at the end of the contest saw the governor coming second to the last position and failed woefully in the contest of of five contestants. A source close to the government also revealed that the huge expenditure made it impossible for the government to meet its financial obligations to the people during the yuletide season. The source said for instance, the government could not pay the usual bonus to public servants and members of the government parastatals were being owed for several months while contractors were hugely owed.
