REVELATION 9:20 “AND THE REST OF THE MEN WHICH WERE NOT KILLED - TopicsExpress

REVELATION 9:20 “AND THE REST OF THE MEN WHICH WERE NOT KILLED BY THESE PLAGUES YET REPENTED NOT OF THE WORKS OF THEIR HANDS, THAT THEY SHOULD NOT WORSHIP DEVILS, AND IDOLS OF GOLD, AND SILVER, AND BRASS, AND STONE, AND OF WOOD: WHICH NEITHER CAN SEE, NOR HEAR, NOR WALK:” If in fact the population of this area is approximately one billion, then somewhat over 600 million people will not be killed during this particular time period. Despite the fact of seeing over 300 million of their fellow men die as a result of this plague, they will not repent. Despite the Bible vividly proclaiming what is actually happening at that time, men will not believe it, but will continue to “worship devils,” i.e., “the very thing that’s destroying them.” Idol worship in the world is still the number one sin. REPENTANCE “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands,” proclaims man attempting to show his independence of God Who created him. In so doing he binds himself totally to destruction by that through which he seeks liberation! It would seem that with hundreds of millions of people being killed by these unseen horrors, those remaining would quickly repent. But, strangely, they will not. Still the Holy Spirit is telling us that even in these horrible times, if men will repent, God will honor their Repentance and have Mercy. God has commanded men to repent from the very beginning, and continues to do so unto the present, and will do so at the very end. Repentance is the one great Doctrine that refers not only to unbelievers, but to Believers as well. The last Message Jesus gave was given to the seven Churches of Asia (Rev., Chpts. 2-3). To five of those Churches He commanded they repent. The last words He gave to the last Church (Laodicea) is “repent.” The idea as here presented, is that these judgments did not have the effect that might reasonably have been anticipated. No reformation follows; there was no abandonment of the prevailing forms of iniquity; there was no change in their idolatry and superstition. “The works of their hands,” refers to that which men make. In other words, they worship what they make! THE WORSHIP OF DEVILS “That they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk,” WORSHIP AND THE CROSS Pure, plain, and simple, we are told here that the “way into the Holiest,” which now refers to the very Presence of God, is by and through what Jesus did at the Cross, by the shedding of His Own Precious Blood, and our Faith in that Finished Work. God will accept nothing, which doesn’t have as its foundation the Cross of Christ. Our Salvation is based on the Cross; the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is all based on the Cross; our victory is based on the Cross; our Praise is based on the Cross; our healing is based on the Cross; our prosperity is based on the Cross; in fact, everything we are and have in Christ Jesus, is based squarely on the Cross, or else it’s not recognized by God.
