REVIEW: All Else Failed - Cradles & Graves 7 I had pretty much forgotten about this band until a friend of mine posted their live set from this years This is Hardcore Fest on my Facebook timeline. And it was so goddamn good that I went straight back to listening to their stuff, after about 10 years time. I was also stoked to find out that they had actually put out a new 7 and ordered it right away. All Else Failed have some seriously timeless songs in their catalog and I was excited to see how this new 7 would hold up. It features only 2 songs and covers a good portion of the range these guys have utilized over the years. What you wont find on this is the super melodic singing type of stuff, best known from This Never Happened, but the first track on Cradles & Graves still caters to the more emotional and desperate sounding side of things. Its good and a serious throwback, since it really sounds like there were no major changes in Hardcore throughout the last 10 years. Towards the end the song picks up and gets a little more epic with some chants before escalating into a grande finale. The second track King Solomons Curse is a little more up my alley, though. It brings back the more chaotic and intense elements that I love these guys for. It even slightly reminds me of my favourite All Else Failed song Kinetic, which is a great compliment, since its probably also one of my favourite Hardcore songs ever. Im not sure if there is more to expect from All Else Failed. I sure hope so, though. Cradles & Graves is a great and entertaining comeback, wearing all the bands trademarks on its sleeves. Spoil us with an album, will you?
