REVIVAL & PRESUMPTUOUS SIN: This is a warning to the church; presumptuous sin is one of the most deadly sins. It is so deadly because it is so deceptive. Let me give an example. Israel came to the river of Jordan and could see over into the Promised Land, they even sent spies to investigate but refused to go in. The book of Hebrews says that unbelief shut the door. Unbelief is the sin of being un-persuadable. When God gives a word, hesitation to obey is the same as not being fully persuaded. The book of James calls this being double minded, and the double minded should not expect anything from God. Back to Israel; after refusing to go in immediately, later they said we will go. This is the sin of presumptuousness. It is not immediately obeying but later thinking you can act on your own and get the same results. The truth is; you can have a word from God about revival, about church, about family, about the blessings of the Lord but delayed obedience because of unbelief and then saying alright I will do this or that, that is presumptuous sin. There is something we should know about the prophetic word. One, Whatever God says is true; there is no doubt about it. However, a prophetic word about revival depends upon the obedience of his people and revival may not come at that time for that people. At some time revival will come but it might not come to the people who heard the word of revival but were un-persuadable. Hesitation to promptly act on what God says is dangerous. God repented and changed his mind about a city called Nineveh. They were a wicked city but God sent a man to preach to them and because they repented God spared the city. Today God is speaking to this nation, he is speaking to cities, to regions of this country, he is speaking to ministries, to churches, and saying this is the time for an awakening; it is time for revival and people of faith should say yes and promptly do what he says. Every word from God contains both blessings and judgment. Blessings when promptly obeyed and judgment when not believed and acted upon. The warning is to the church, to the believer – obey promptly and do not hesitate and you can live in the promises of God and defeat any enemy that would stand against you.
