RHAPSODY OF DECEIT AGAINST IMOLITES. RE: ARITHMETIC CALCULATIONS OF FREE EDUCATIONS IN IMO STATE. My constructive post on the arithmetic calculations of Imo State free education has emanated heat, threat to life, abuse, slander, and baseless criticisms. Many respected ORO supporters wrote replies to me condemning ignorantly the post. I wish to reply them in a strong, educative, analytical and unbaised details of the extortionary Free Education. In the course of their defamatory replies, they brought out the following points of notice. 1. That the admission quota in Imo State tertiary institutions are now 30% for indigenes, 70% non indigenes. This is against 80% indigenes, 20% non indigenes, it used to be everywhere in State tertiary institutions of the country. 2. That my calculation did not cover Imo State polytechnic, that i dulged it. 3. That the post is a propaganda. Let me begin by educating all, on the meaning of Free education. Free education refers to education that is funded through taxation, or charitable organizations rather than tuition fees (wikipedia). The International Institute for Educational planning (2014) defined Free education as the abolition of any cost directly or indirectly on students. Direct cost of education is the tuition fees, while indirect costs include; Acceptance fee, Text books, sports fees, medical fees, departmental fees, faculty dues, Accomodation, Transportation, Development fees, e.t.c Thus, when education is free, all these costs, and their auxilliaries are taken care of by the government or body providing it. There is a big differences between subsidized and free education. In the former, the government pays part of or all the direct cost of education while students take care of the indirect cost while in the latter, the government pays all cost of education ( McDonald, 2012). Now, the main objective of this post is to say no to the deceit of the government on Imolites. Our government say they gave FREE EDUCATION TO ALL IMOLITES, and 50% for non indigenes as can be seen in their adverts in TV stations, bill boards, print and social media, etc. ORO once said, When you are an Imolite, all you have to do is write jamb, and come, we have taken care of your tertiary education, at no cost” IS THIS TRUE? Lets take cases of our Imsu, and Imopoly. In Imopoly, Indigenes of Imo state pay the following, Acceptance fee = 40,000 Other fees = 10,000 Development fees= 10,000 Medical fees = 5,000 Departmental fees = 3,000 Activation of cheque = 20,000 TOTAL = 88,000 Non indigene pay the following; School fees = 60, 000 Acceptance fee = 40,000 Other fees = 20,000 Development fees= 10,000 Medical fees = 5,000 Departmental fees = 3,000 TOTAL = 138,000 Before this administration, everyone (indigene and non.indigene) pays Acceptance fee =20,000 School fees: 35,000 Other fees = no Development = no Medical fees= 3,500 Departmental fees = 1,500 TOTAL = 60,000 this figures can be confirmed in Imopoly microfinance bank. Pls, Imolites, who is fooling who? Is this not extortion? Deceit treachery? For IMSU, indigenes pay: Acceptance fee = 70,000 Activation of cheque: 20,000 Non indigenes pay more than 120,000 Account number: 1012510925 Zenith bank pls. Pls we can go and confirm for those that say its a propaganda. How can the government collect.those huge amount of money that is even more than the one seen in past administrations, and still label it Free education? I want to tell them that deceiving and leing to the citizens is dehumanizing them and will ultimately undermine trust and destroy fellowership. I can also conclude beyond every reasonable doubt that there is no free nor subsidized education in Imo State. Despite, this huge sum extorted from Imolites, the quality of education has fallen drastically. Imsu and imopoly have reduced drasticaly in ranking in recent years. The government should derive a better term for this education, maybe extortory education, unless she thinks us fool. Permit me to borrow this quote, IMO GA ADI NMA OZO.
