RHAPSODY OF REALITIES WITH PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME* DATE● ● ● THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2014* TOPIC● ● ● Raised As Kings... Date: Thursday March 13th, 2014 ...I was my fathers son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live (Proverbs 4:3-4). 2 Chronicles 1 tells us how the Lord appeared to Solomon on a certain night and said, Ask for whatever you want. Solomon, being smart, answered: Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? (2 Chronicles 1:10). How did Solomon know he should ask for wisdom, and not for anything else, such that even God made a wonderful remark about him? (Read 2 Chronicles 1:11-12). Solomons words in our opening verse give us an idea. Certainly, he wasnt Davids only son, yet he said, I was my fathers son. This meant he was the adopted son; the one groomed for the throne. There was a special training David bequeathed to him, which the other sons didnt have. In the Scriptures, being the adopted son doesnt refer to fostering another persons son as your son and getting all the legal documentations to that effect. Rather, it describes the situation in those days, where a monarch with several sons, chose which one of them would be his heir-apparent. Hed then give him (the chosen heir-apparent) to the governors, teachers or instructors to train in military service and in all kinds of discipline and learning, until he came to maturity. When he was trained and ready for office, he was brought back to the king as the adopted son. In the same way, not all who are born again have understood the leading of the Spirit and the life of dominion Hes brought us to. Many are yet to understand spiritual realities; so theyve got to be properly taught and nurtured in Christ unto maturity. Thats the reason God ...gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints....Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13). He wants every one of us to grow unto perfection; unto maturity in the things of the Spirit and live as His adopted sons—walking in the supernatural; winning and excelling every day in life. Further Study: Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. Galatians 4:6-7 6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7: Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Galatians 4:1-2 1: Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2: But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. PRAYER: Dear Father, I thank you for instructing, directing, and training me for a life of victory and dominion over the elements of this world, and preparing me to be a steward of the powers of the age to come, in Jesus Name. Amen. 1 Year Bible Reading Plan: Mark 15:21-47, Numbers 34-36 2 Year Bible Reading Plan: Acts 27:9-20, Psalm 74
