RI - Officer struck by vehicle, pinned - Cranston Police officer noticed suspicious activity outside the Restaurant - Once the officer approached the suspects vehicle, the officer noticed the driver holding a bag in her hand which was believed to be cocaine. Once police attempted to arrest the suspect, the driver put her vehicle in reverse which trapped the officer in a door frame before striking the police cruiser. Fearing for his safety, the officer opened fire and several rounds were shot which did not hurt the suspect. The suspect fled in her vehicle which was found a short time after - 36-year-old Alicia Mattera faces charges of Felony Assault, Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic, Resisting Arrest, Duty to Stop in an Accident Result in Damage to Property and Driving After Denial/Suspension/Revocation of license. Mattera is being held without bail on a related drug charge where she was released on probation in 2013.
