Murphy Sr. 79 of Shirley formerly of Littleton passed away on March 10, 2014 at Life Care Center of Acton after a brief illness. He was born in Cambridge on May 16 1934 son of Carleton and Margaret (Broussard) Murphy. He grew up in North Cambridge and was a graduate of Ringe Tech High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an Airman 2nd Class He married Marcelline Benoit in 1954 and has made their home in Littleton for over 25 years. They wintered in Palm Bay Florida and summered in Maine for many years and most recently resided in Shirley, MA. Longtime employee of as a ramp agent for American Airlines in Boston. Richie “Murph” was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Littleton for many years. He was a member of New England Woodcarvers where he loved to carve birds. He was also a member of Littleton American Legion and St. Anthony’s Church in Shirley. He is survived by his wife Marcelline (Benoit) Murphy of Shirley, 3 sons Rick Murphy and his wife Gina of Gig Harbor WA, Paul Murphy and his wife Julie of Leominster and Kevin Murphy of Shirley. A daughter Carol Keir and her husband Bruce of Lunenburg and a sister Margaret Domenici of Somerville. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, Collette, Danielle, Derek, Stephen, Timothy, Andrew, Emma, Kayla, Hannah Shaun and Serena, 6 Great Grandchildren Liam, Declan, Tristan, Lillian Caleb and Zoie. Visiting Hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St, Littleton, MA on Thursday March 13, 2014 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s of Padua Church, Phoenix Street, Shirley Mass on Friday at 10 am. Interment at North Cambridge Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Murphy may be made to Special Olympics Massachusetts, 512 Forest St. Marlboro MA 01752 or New England JDRF 60 Walnut St. Wellesley Hills MA 02481 Please see badgerfuneral
