RIDE TO WORK DAY SUCCESS Well, as stated yesterday twenty staff from the Berrigan Shire Council participated in Ride to work day, travelling 43.76kms. The staff left the Council offices at around 4.45pm and were all safely in Tocumwal by 8pm. One staff member had to pull out with an injury - rather grudgingly mind you, she was not willing to go down without a fight - your determination was amazing Leanne! Another staff member had a break down, poor Matthew C lost a pedal in the first 15kms and managed to reattach it a few times but he had to limp the final stretch on one pedal. The wind was picking up near the end and it was getting dark, whilst the support vehicle was detained with the final riders of the field,another participant missed the final turn and proceeded to ride on a few more kilometres before being collected by another participant returning to the party. Thank you Nathan for finding Darren for us - heaven knows where he might have ended up. The support crew were in much demand handing out encouragement, water and snake lollies. In fact one of the support crew ended up meeting a real snake at one of the checkpoints - walked over it five times before she even noticed it - in thongs no less! Thankfully for Jess it was dead already. Roz was the perfect hostess, she put on an amazing feast. Not only did she organise the whole day from start to finish but she rode along encouraging other staff to continue their ride. We are so proud to have such great staff working at the Council. Thank you to all involved for your hard work, you should all be very proud of what you have achieved.
