RIDING UP THE PENINSULARS SPINE. Helped a friend deliver a 2007 - TopicsExpress

RIDING UP THE PENINSULARS SPINE. Helped a friend deliver a 2007 BMW R1200GS from Kuala Lumpur to my hometown yesterday. It was a 200km of totally-uninspiring, dull, boring and empty ride - thanks to the totally-uninspiring, dull and boring machine. Its one of those things that makes you wish life has a Rewind button. Enough of the tractor, then... The next best thing came less than 30 minutes after I arrived at my parents house. My good friend in town invited me to join him for a ride up the Titiwangsa Range summit. I agreed in a nanosecond... And so, the BMW is parked and forgotten... and my Kawa was unleashed instead. Together with my friend whos astride his Aprilia Caponord ETV1000, we were joined by his two friends on their Honda ST1100 Pan-European and Kawasaki 1400GTR further up in Salak and Kati (near Kuala Kangsar). My 773cc W looked so tiny surrounded by these mechanical elephants & camels. Like a mule, even. But what an enthusiastic and nippy mule it was! On the zig-zaggy roads up West Malaysias backbone that separates the West from the East Coast, it (and its pilot, of course) was having a great time enjoying and exploiting the laws of physics, while the three giants had to practice a lot of self-restraint, bogged down by their weight and width. The ambient temperature got lower and lower the higher we descended, and the Ws air-cooled engine loved it more and more! Lots of gear work and with very little braking needed resulted in a very happy ride. After 215km, we arrived at a restaurant at Puncak Titiwangsa (Titiwangsa Summit). The food was nothing to shout about, but the view was awesome... My day was saved. Thanks to Duamotor Sport and my two new friends! :)
