RIOT Parenting Tip: My kids dont talk to me! As kids get older, parents say that a LOT. My kids wont talk to me... or My kids wont open up to me... or something similar. The worst part is, the harder you try, the more they seem to close up! Its such a catch-22. Or is it? Here are a few tips that just might get your kid to open up to you: Letem be. Just accept that theyre in a phase where, for whatever reason, they feel like they cant open up to you. If you give them respectful space, and dont pry into their lives, most of the time theyll come around to you. Is there something more serious going on? Are there other troubles at school or at home? Spousal fighting, financial trouble and other things have a bigger impact on kids than a lot of people realize. Sometimes these make kids close up. If your kids a teenager - just surrender LOL.
