RIP Ben Bradlee (1921 - 2014). As the executive editor of the Washington Post, Bradlee supervised Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein during their uncovering of the Watergate Scandal, which resulted in Richard Nixon resigning the presidency. Also, the Post published the Pentagon Papers under Bradlee’s watch. He was integral to two of the most important events in American journalism. Bradlee became famous when Jason Robards portrayed him in “All the President’s Men” (1976). In the film, Bradlee is depicted as a tough boss that made sure Woodward and Bernstein only reported information from reliable sources, thus safeguarding that the journalism about Watergate was fair and accurate.
