RIP Criss Oliva - 21 years ago today. One of the best and most unique players to ever pick up the instrument in my opinion, and my #1 pick for a musician who was taken too soon - I often wonder how many career paths might have played out differently if Criss was still alive today... hard to imagine how different things might be. Either way, truly a tragedy and his playing is often imitated but has never been equaled - you just cant compensate for feel and passion, which he had tons of, and so many often lack. Its very hard for me to pick a favorite Criss solo, but this is right up there for sure.
