RIP Ernie Banks. Though the autograph he gave me almost 50 years ago is fading, the memory of that moment that he signed for me still burns bright in my mind. My aunt, kinda of, Joan Eileen Rosney was the nurse at Connie Mack Stadium. When my Dad took me to Connie Mack we would stop by the First Aid Station and see Aunt Joan. She would tell me where to get autographs of the players. Dont be shy Hughie! Step right up there and ask! We got there early for batting practice and there was Ernie Banks holding court along the 1st base side near the railing, talking to the press and signing for everyone.
