RIP FRANKIE KNUCKLES (1955-2014) On March 31st, the world became a less-groovy place when it was widely reported that Frankie Knuckles - The Godfather of House Music died from complications related to Diabetes. The Bronx native began working as a DJ at The Continental Baths (with fellow legend, DJ Larry Levan) while studying at FIT in the 1970s. By the late-1970s, Knuckles had moved to Chicago and revolutionized the remix by lengthening disco tracks & adding elements, creating dancefloor-friendly extended remixes. As a matter of fact, club music enthusiasts began calling the music he played House Music because it was what they heard when Frankie played at THE WAREHOUSE. In 1991, Frankies debut album Beyond the Mix contained his signature song: The Whistle Song In addition to his own original music, Frankie had remixed volumes of tracks by Whitney Houston, Lisa Stansfield, Sounds of Blackness, Janet Jackson, Depeche Mode, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Inner City, Toni Braxton ... and most-recently contributed a remix of Hot Stuff for the Love To Love You Donna Remix CD on VERVE Records in 2013. * * THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC * * Frankie: Your mega-watt smile could light up the room, and the music you brought forth into the world brought joy to millions!
