RIP Joe Cocker. Big influence on me personally. My Dad took me to see him live with Stevie Ray Vaughan when I was 10 years old, and when I think about what my own guitar influences are and my vocal influences, maybe that concert was even more important than I thought. Joe had soul and could project it. Joe freaked fully in public. He moved disjointedly, his eyes bulged out of his head and he sang like his larynx was trying as hard as it could to some how burst out of his throat. He wasnt some prima donna concerned about posing up on that stage he was one with the music and the feeling had to come out. Mad Dogs and Englishmen is one of the greatest tours, bands, albums, rock and roll movies of all time. Sure, he cheesed way out, and unfortunately sometimes I feel people think of Belushi instead of Joe, but he was unique and the kind of singer I enjoy. Somewhere there is a video of 10 year old me, with a mulltet, in a tie dye singing With a Little Help From My Friends and spazzing out. Thanks Joe! https://youtube/watch?v=-407iUd_pFY
