RIP Michael Grafton Green 08-10-2014. Sound engineer, music producer Michael made an important contribution not only to British music history for his work with some of the worlds best known musical artists but also contributed to the shaping of New Zealand music through his engineering efforts at HMV studios in Wellington in the late 1960s and 70s. I interviewed him for Radio NZ National in 2013. Michael walked into Abbey Road Studios in London in the late 1950s, and managed to score himself the role of apprentice recording engineer and disc cutter soon found himself working with aCliff Richard and the Shadows, the Hollies, Cilla Black, Shirley Bassey and The Beatles. .... Back in New Zealand from 1969 he manned the mixing desk at HMV working with artists including Anna Leah, Quincy Conserve, Blerta, Mark Williams, Rockinghorse and Lutha.
