RIP Sir Chris Chataway - Very much an underrated distance runner who lived in the shadow of Roger Bannister and yet Sir Chris, was his paceman enabling Bannister to actually achieve his sub-4 minute mile. Sir Chris was also named as the first ever BBC Sports Personality Of The Year and a fitting reward for his efforts as the 54 commonwealth games thee mile gold medalist and World record holder. His knighthood was not for his achievements on the track but for his services to the world of aviation. A giant in British and World athletics whom, and rightly so, should be remembered on equal terms with Bannister. Rest peacefully and you now run with the passed giants.
