RIVERS STATE DEBACLE AND THE ABUJA CONSPIRACY The media is awash about the travails of Rivers State helmsman Rotimi Ameachi , first it was the issue of NGF, then the suspension of the Okirika council boss by the RVHA, and now the RVHA fracas. Many people have said so much without know the root course until Mrs Patience Jonathan came up with the main reason of her grouse with Rotimi. She claimed to have had a long standing disagreement with Rotimi and that is what Rotimi is paying for. According to her, Rotimi wanted to to carry out a demolition of some shanties and abodes of criminals in Okirika, the homestead of Patience and the people called on the 1st Lady to intervene, Rotimi was contacted and the place was spared. This in itself is wrong. Maybe I need to remind us that prior to the advent of Rotimi’s inauguration as Governor, the entire Rivers State was brought to its kneels by a terrible cult war which defy solution throughout the days of the then Gov Celestine Omeiha. So when Rotimi came on the saddle, it was imperative to dismantle the shanties so as to dislodge the hoodlums and restore peace to the Garden city and the state. The meddlesomeness of the 1st lady in that matter is not only unpatriotic, it is nepotistic and unholy even at that the Governor still allowed it. It is this nepotistic and unpresidential behaviour that made the 1st Lady again take side with the suspended fraudulent Local Govt Chairman simply because he hails from Okirika, the 1st Lady’s homestead. We must put record straight; Rotimi is an elected Governor Patience is not. She is not known to our constitution in any other capacity other than being a citizen of Nigeria. So I think she should be advised to operate with the limit of her constitutional right. Trying to bring the state of Rivers down on the altar of her unconstitutional obsession is unacceptable. She should not be a catalyst to truncate our hard earn democracy. She was nowhere when we were in the trenches fighting the dark goggled dictator for this democracy. And for Mr President, I have this to say; The President was in my perception a democrat and a fair gentleman, but now see the stuff that he is made off when in his political mathematic, 16 is greater than 19 and 5 is a majority in a house peopled by 32 persons. Mr President should be reminded how the entire well meaning Nigerian stood up in his defence when he was to be denied the constitutional right of becoming the Acting President in the absence of the ailing President Yar’Adua. Let the truth be told Mr President is allowing some political jobbers and the sycophants around him to push him against the people in a desperate move to perpetuate him in office beyond 2015. He cannot force himself on us. If he is willing to be re-elected, he still has ample opportunities to impress Nigerians with people oriented performance. Right now we don’t have anything in particular to hail him for. It has been all talk and no concrete action. Let him fix the power problems, and give Nigerians 18 hours of uninterrupted daily power supply, re-activate the railway transport nationwide, create job and make Nigeria safe for all and sundries. It is a big shame that this Govt has not been able to build a single refinery since its inception whereas Ghana that discovered oil recently now has at least a full fledging oil refinery. Where are the cottage and small modular refineries that he promised during his electioneering campaigns? If these are done in real terms, I promise that Nigerians will return him in 2015. If he keeps harassing Rotimi and all perceived enemies he can’t make any wave. The scale of corruption is on the rise and instead of fighting the menace, corrupt officials are being harboured under cover like that erring Okirika LG Chairman. Nothing again is heard about Abdulrasheed Maina, who looted the pension fund with impunity and even desecrated on the sacredness of the National Assembly. We have too many sacred cows in this Govt and this is killing the image of the Govt. I think he should caution some of his overzealous Ministers like the Aviation Minister and the Minister of state for Education. They must either face their work and stop playing politics with every little issue or be booted out of office. We have heard several broken promises. We are no fools and we must not be taken for a ride. The FG is taken 52% of our monthly revenue and we are not seriously seeing what they are doing with it yet. Jonathan and his Political foot soldiers should leave Rotimi’s Rivers alone and face the greater task of nation building; Nigerians are running out of patience plssssssssss
