RIVERSIDE: RCC student stabs would-be rapist in neck with pencil. BY PETER SUROWSKI- Press Enterprise. A 19-year-old woman escaped a man she said tried to rape her Thursday morning at Riverside City College by stabbing him in the neck with a pencil, police say. The attacker remained at large Thursday afternoon. The attack happened about 10:30 a.m. in a bathroom on the east side of the Math/Science building, RCC Police Chief Jim Miyashiro wrote in a campus alert. As the victim began washing her hands, she looked behind her and notice a male suspect ... standing behind her, the chief wrote. The victim alleged that the male suspect pushed her to the ground and attempted to rape her. The woman stabbed the man in the neck, causing him to get off of her. She darted out of the bathroom and ran to her next class, the release says. She reported the attack to police later that day. Officers have contacted local hospitals to see whether anybody has checked in with a neck wound but turned up nothing, the chief said. On Wednesday evening, a similar-looking man was reported to police for suspiciously in a womens bathroom at the campus quad area. The college had issued an alert after that incident, as well. The man walked into the bathroom about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday and made eye contact with a woman inside. He then left the bathroom, but a few moments later he slipped back in and entered one of the stalls, the alert says. That man was described as Hispanic, about 20 years old, 5-foot-7 with a medium build, black hair and a short black beard, He was wearing a hooded sweater, black shorts, white socks and black tennis shoes. The man in Thursdays attack was described as Hispanic, 20-30 years old with black hair and a short black beard. He was wearing wearing black pants and a black shirt. Authorities are working to track down the suspect and asked anybody with information to call college police at 951-222-8171. Anyone who thinks they have spotted the suspect should call 911.
