RKL pledges to support Tangkhul Frontier organisation.(TFO) Expressing solidarity with the Tangkhul Frontal Organisations, Ramva Katamnao Long(RKL) has firmly pledged to lend its support to the ongoing agitation spearheaded by TFO demanding immediate transfer of DC Ukhrul According to a press note issued by the president of RKL, KP Ashang, a mere DC, undermining the people of his own district, by looking down upon the leaders of the civil societies like TNL, TKS, TMNL and TSL is unbecoming of the Civil Servant/District Administrator for the foremost duty is to seek co-operation with the community based organisations for smooth functioning of his administration. “However, it seems the DC is here just to do some file works of sponsored schemes and to oppose the social bodies or devide or handle them in his liking,” rued the statement. Recalling the recent ugly incident at Lambui, Ashang further stated that under the directives of TKS the Lambui Katamnao Long dispatched a team of volunteers to check banned goods and on one occassion the DC passed by and stopped his vehicle and thought the DC will be giving compliments for the good works, but to our dismay he photographed all the volunteers and threatened them of dire consequences, to the extent of arresting them and locking them up. “Such behaviour on part of a learned person holding the highest post of the district, discouraging the students of the society is a direct provoke to the age-old institution of the Tangkhul society” the statement noted. It further questioned the wisdom and intelligence of DC in dealing with all the incidence that has taken place in the district without the support of the Social Apex bodies, who hold the mandate of the general public. “It will be wise on the part of the state Govt. to transfer the DC in no time as it will be costly even for the Govt. to keep someone by force when things can turn up and down. Violence can happen any time for the delay of DC transfer and if the state Govt. is for peace, then transfer DC Ukhrul as demanded by the Tangkhul bodies or watch the force applied by both the parties i.e the civil and Govt.” added the statement
