RMS Announcements Friday, September 12, 2014 Day – 2 Lunch Today Choice 1 – Chicken and Noodles Choice 2 –n/a Peas, Baby Carrots, Mandarin Oranges, Dinner Roll, PB & J and Bread, Salad Bar, Milk 1. ILEAD Shirt order forms are available on the table outside the office. ILEAD shirt order forms are due to the office by the 12th. 2. Today is College/University Day at RMS in celebration of the Iowa/Iowa State Game on Saturday! Wear your favorite college/team wear. No face paint or hats are allowed 3. Girls Group will be starting next Monday in Room 116. Girls group runs from right after school until 4:00pm. Come to Mrs. McWherters classroom after school on Monday for some great snacks and we will work on planning out our year with what you want to do. All you need to bring is some fun ideas, crafts, or plans for us to start our year. 4. Art Club will meet next Tuesday, Sept 16 from 3:30-4:00. Meet by the office. 5. Today is the first eligibility report day. All students must be passing ALL CLASSES to be eligible to participate in next weeks activities. 6. Tuesday was first turn in day for our Fall Fundraiser. Only 7 students turned in orders today. For every three orders turned in, students will receive a money pen. Every pen is worth $$$$ from $1.00 - $100.00. You may still turn in your postcard booklet and receive prizes. Our goal is for every student to turn in 5 orders and their postcard booklet or 7 total orders. This is your ticket to MOVIE DAY!!!! Remember to set up your online account and have family order online. These orders will be credited to YOU! The next and final turn in day is Tuesday, September 15. Congratulations to our winners in the pen drawing today: Trey Chaplin $2.00, Peyton Campana $2.00, Karli Hager $3.00, Erin Brunsen $$3.00, Brianna Rodriguez $2.00, Riley Burke $1.00, and Miller Nachazel $1.00. 7. MAP Testing will continue. Both 7th grade and 8th grade will block tomorrow and will take the Math Map Test. The purpose of MAP Testing is to measure growth from year to year and from fall to spring. Your teachers will have your results from last spring. Your goal should be to score the same or a little better from last spring. 8. The 8th grade football team opened its season with a game against Clear Lake last night. Going against a big Clear Lake team, the Cadets held its own and played better and better as the game went on. The Cadets lost 8 to 22, but many positives can be taken from the game. 9. Monday the volleyball teams will kick off their season against Fort Dodge St. Edmonds. The 8th grade volleyball team will travel to Fort Dodge St. Edmonds. Class dismissal for the 8th grade team is 2:20 and bus departure at 2:30. The 7th grade volleyball team will host St. Edmonds at RMS. Both game will begin at 4:15. 10. Also on Monday, the cross country team will run at the Ballard meet. Class dismissal for the cross country team is 2:20, bus departure at 2:30 and the meet will begin at 4:30. 11. Homecoming is next week at Iowa Falls Alden High School. Homecoming is primarily a high school activity with the high school having dress up days throughout the week. Riverbend Middle School will be having a similar week during January. We will have school spirit day on Friday and students can wear their cadet colors and uniforms. We will also have a pep assembly on Friday. 12. Regarding destruction of property, including but not limited to tp-ing, during homecoming. The school district will file criminal trespassing charges against any person who is knowingly on school property while an act of destroying, defacing, and/or vandalizing school property is taking place. If a person who is charged with criminal trespass is a student in the Iowa Falls Community School District, then additional school disciplinary actions may be enacted. Disciplinary actions may include, but are not limited to, suspension, expulsion, and loss of extra-curricular eligibility. If a person who is charged with criminal trespass is not a student in the Iowa Falls Community School District, then the school district will legally prohibit this person from entering or remaining upon any property owned by the Iowa Falls Community School District for no less than one year.
