RMS Announcements Monday, October 28, 2013 Day – 1 Lunch Today Choice 1 – Grilled Chicken Patty on Bun Choice 2 – n/a Baked Beans, Cucumber Slices with Ranch, Tomatoes, Pears, Salad Bar, Milk 1. The volleyball Battle will be held on Thursday, October 31 after school. There is a volleyball battle sign up for the 7th and 8th grade boys. 2. The Fall Dance will held on Thursday, November 14. More details will be announced later. 3. If you have your Chromebook Signature Agreement and deposit, please bring it to the office following the announcements. 4. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held again tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29. We will dismiss one hour early each day and follow a Wednesday schedule. The Chromebook Mandatory Parent meetings will be held at 6:30 Tuesday night. All students are expected to attend one night of conferences with your parents. 5. There is an 7th and 8th grade girls and 7th and 8th grade boys basketball and also wrestling sign up sheet in the office for anyone interested in playing basketball this year. The cheerleading signup is in the office. 6. Sign Language Club will start meeting on Tuesday, November 5 from 3:15 – 4:00. The sign up sheet in the office. 7. Reminder the Cross Country banquet will be held tonight, Oct 28th at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Please bring a dish to share and your uniform if you have not turned it in. This is a meal for the runners and their families. 8. National Mix It Up Day is next Tuesday. A national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance a decade ago, Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries. In surveys, students have identified the cafeteria as the place where divisions are most clearly drawn. So on one day – October 29 this school year – we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act with profound implications. Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away. 9. Science club will meet Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Mrs. Koenigs room. 10. A huge congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade band Super Heroes that presented a terrific halftime show Friday night at the varsity football game. The Cadet fans really enjoyed your performance. 11. Art Club will meet on Thursday this week from 3:40-4:30, please wait in the entryway by the office. Also please note the change in day. 12. FFA Members, If you plan on taking advantage of the Carhartt special when ordering an official FFA Jacket, please see Mr. Dodd immediately after announcements TODAY ONLY. 13. Yearbook will meet Tuesday morning at 7:30 in the art room. We will be starting to collage some pages and designing the cover. Remember to keep taking pictures. 14. Tonight is our second 8th grade choir night at Pizza Ranch in Iowa Falls! We only have four nights this year, so your support is really important! Thanks for supporting your eighth grade choir! 8th grade choir workers tonight at Pizza Ranch are: From 5:00 – 6:30 is Landon Duncan, Paige Furns, Izaak Bergantzel, Brendan Chaney and Denise Duncan as chaperone. From 6:30 – 8:00 is Alex England, Rose Warrington, Jayda Mulford and Robert Warrington as chaperone. We need one more worker during this time. 15. The Iowa Falls Alden Varsity Volleyball team will host Osage in the first round of regional play. The game will start at 7:00 at the IFA High School. You will not be able to use your activity tickets for this game.
