ROAD MAINTENANCE WORK - OLD PACIFIC HWY, SOMERSBY TO HAWKESBURY RIVER Brisbane Water Police have been notified of the following road maintenance work by Roads and Maritime Services as detailed below. Roads and Maritime Services will carry out maintenance work along the Old Pacific Highway between Somersby and the Hawkesbury River to improve safety and cleanliness, from Monday 19 January to Thursday 26 February 2015. The work will be carried out between 9am and 2pm and is expected to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting. The work will involve: •Trimming trees to improve sight lines for motorists and minimise the chance of branches falling onto the roadway •Clearing debris from the road shoulders •Cleaning drainage lines to improve water collection capacity and drainage flow. To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, the work will involve closing sections of the highway between Somerbsy and the Hawkesbury for up to four days. Detours will be in place via the M1 Pacific Motorway and signage and traffic control will be in place to direct motorists during work hours. Traffic Controllers will be positioned at either end of the closed section, and at the various work sites within the closure. Emergency vehicles will still be able to travel along the closed section if needed. All work areas will have radio communication, so if Emergency vehicles do need to use the effected section, the various worksites can be notified. The three stages of work are scheduled to be done as follows: •Stage one between Calga and Somersby from Monday 19 January to Thursday 22 January. The closure will be between Peats Ridge Road at Calga, and the Reptile Park Access Road at Somersby. •Stage two between Mount White and Calga from Monday 9 February to Thursday 12 February. The closure will be between Mount White Cafe at Mount White, and Peats Ridge Road South at Calga. •Stage three between Mooney Mooney and Mount White from Monday 23 February to Thursday 26 February. The closure will be between Cheero Point Road at Cheero Point, and Morgans Road at Mount White.
