ROAD WORK UPDATE: St. Johnsbury – Lyndon Paving Project Location: 2014 – US 2/Western Ave from Fairbanks Motel to just beyond Snell Road. Interim completion for the 2014 season is late November. Friday, October 24, 2014 – Weather permitting, crews will start paving the base layer of pavement on US 2/Western Ave from the intersection with Central and High Streets to the Alt US 5/Main Street intersection. Saturday, October 25, 2014 – Crews may pave Saturday if they don’t finish paving the base layer on Friday. Week of October 27, 2014 Mid-week, crews will pave the intermediate layer of new pavement on US 2/Western Ave from the intersection with Central and High Streets to the Alt US 5/Main Street intersection. Traffic - Travel will be reduced to one lane within the construction zone. Traffic control personnel will be present to assist in maintaining traffic flow. Motorists can expect delays while crews are paving. As of October 1, 2014, Vermont banned the use of any handheld portable electronic devices while driving. The new law carries fines of up to $200 with points assessed if the violation occurs in a work zone.
