ROBBERY ARREST On 11/12/2014, an armed robbery was reported to the Sayreville Police Department by two juvenile victims. The robbery took place at approximately 4:00 p.m. on the railroad tracks adjacent to Kennedy Park. The victims were approached from behind by the suspect who indicated that he had a gun and demanded they turn over whatever money they had on them. He never actually produced a firearm but continued to threaten that he had one in his jacket pocket. One juvenile handed over a small amount of cash he had. The suspect took the money and fled down the railroad tracks towards Ernston Road. The victims then drove to Sayreville Police Department to report the incident. On 11/13/2014, Officers Walter Arway and Michael Pascone were able to identify an individual from previous encounters based on the victim description as Patrick ODwyer. A short time later, Detective Mathew O’Such spotted Mr. O’Dwyer walking on Raritan Street. He was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant and taken into police custody. Detectives from the Juvenile Aid Bureau interviewed Mr. O’Dwyer who eventually confessed to the robbery. He has been charged with one count of robbery and his bail has been set at $75,000.00
